A new line of international term life and personal accident insurance products aim to provide members of the United Nations Federal Credit Union with more protection in war-torn and humanitarian crisis regions around the world.
Through an alliance between UNFCU Financial Advisors and Clements International, the insurance policies provide worldwide protection for members in countries including Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to the subsidiary. The coverage includes natural or accidental death, and coverage for loss due to terrorism. Discounted rates are available for UNFCU members with coverage limits of up to $1 million.
"Our goal was to find an insurance solution and fill a void for our members who are right there on the front lines on humanitarian missions," said Stephen Ryerson, president ofUNFCU Financial Advisors. He added that the institution is already seeing strong interest in the product at other United Nations hubs such as Kenya.
The $3.1 billion United Nations FCU in Long Island, N.Y. serves more than 88,000 members in 212 countries and territories spanning six continents.
